According to educational experts, students should primarily focus on understanding the concepts comprehensively and then applying it to solve various problems. It is important to keep the concepts clear before solving the questions as improper understanding (of concepts) can lead to confusions and puzzlement. Toppers from previous year’s examination suggest aspirants make a list of all the formulas (chapter-wise) and go through them repeatedly. Further, they should also practice multiple formula based questions as the practice is the only key.

Important Physics chapters with weightage in percentage:

  • Kinematics (6%),
  • Laws of motion (7%),
  • Thermodynamics (7%),
  • Oscillation and Waves (10%),
  • Electrostatics (7%),
  • Current electricity (7%),
  • Magnetic effects of current and magnetism (8%),
  • Electronic devices (8%)

How to prepare for Chemistry for AIIMS?

Chemistry is a comprehensive blend of numerous chemical equations, theoretical concepts and numerical problems. For organic chemistry, educational experts suggest students study all the reaction mechanisms and memorize all the named reactions. They are advised to mark important concepts and make notes simultaneously as it helps in timely revisions of the subject. For Inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry, NCERT books are the best preparatory books that provide a basic footing with the concepts.

Important Chemistry chapters with weightage in percentage):

  • Chemical bonding and molecular structure (7%)
  • Thermodynamics (6%)
  • Equilibrium (6%)
  • Some p-block elements (6%)
  • Organic chemistry: Basic principles and technique (8%)
  • p-block element (6%)
  • Coordination Compounds (6%)
  • Biomolecules (5%)
  • Aldehydes
  • Ketones and Carboxylic Acids (5%)

How to prepare for Biology for AIIMS?

Biology is the heart of AIIMS syllabus that requires the students to study and understand various concepts along with labelled diagrams. Unlike other subjects, biology also requires the students to memorize concepts and important findings. They are suggested to study all the concepts from NCERT textbooks and they should not leave any stone unturned. They should mark all the important points that they may forget easily. According to previous year’s toppers, aspirants should always make their personal handwritten notes comprising of flowcharts and other diagrammatic representations. It helps them to remember important topics like the Krebs cycle, glycolysis pathway etc. easily.

Important Biology Chapters:

  • Human health disease
  • Photosynthesis
  • Animal Kingdom
  • Ecosystem Plant physiology
  • Ecology
  • Genetics and Morphology of plants
  • Diversity in the living world
  • Biology in human welfare and Biotechnology

General AIIMS Preparation Tips

In addition to the subject-wise preparation tips, here are some additional AIIMS 2020 preparation tips to help you get ready for the medical entrance exam.

  1. According to experts, students who start their preparations early in class 11th obtain a significant advantage over others and have a higher chance of clearing the entrance examination.
  2. Prepare a study routine or a time table. It is essentially important as it allows you to divide the syllabus and allocate appropriate time to subjects and important topics.
  3. Buy AIIMS online test series and solve previous years’ question papers. This will allow you to recognize your weaker and stronger areas while improving your time management skills. However, it is important to take these online tests on reliable platforms only. You can take the help of exclusive products like Aakash PracTest to analyze your performance at an All India Level.
  4. Smart work is equally important as hard work when preparing for AIIMS 2020. According to experts, students should focus on understanding the concepts rather than memorizing them. Since the examination is time-bound and leveraged with negative marking, it is important to plan your commencement strategy smartly.
  5. Practice and revisions are the keys to succeeding in the AIIMS 2020 examination. Therefore, practice the concepts and important topics multiple times until you are sure about them.

Reference Books for AIIMS 2020

According to educational experts and former AIIMS toppers, the textbooks for class 11th and 12th published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) are the best reference books to prepare for AIIMS 2020.

Other Recommended Books:

For Physics: Concepts of Physics (Vol. 1 & 2) by H.C. Verma; Problems in General Physics by I.E. Irodov

For Chemistry: Organic Chemistry by Paul Bruise; Organic Chemistry by Morrison Boyd; Physical Chemistry by O.P Tandon; Inorganic Chemistry by J.D. Lee

For Biology: Objective Biology by Dinesh; Prakash Objective Biology; Trueman’s Biology (Volume 1 & 2); AC Dutta for Botany (Oxford)

Clearing AIIMS 2020 is not a cumbersome task, especially if you follow your goals with the right AIIMS preparation strategy, dedication and passion. So stay motivated, keep your focus right, and clear the exam with flying colours.
