1- KVPY or Kishore Vigyan Protsahan Yojana
The KVPY is a National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, run by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It is meant to filter out the exceptionally talented and brilliant young minds of our nation and offer them a chance to pursue basic science courses and research career in science.
What’s interesting about this exam is that the information regarding the application date and process is usually released on the nationally proclaimed Technology Day – May 11th and also on the 2nd Sunday of July, every year.
The exam is open to students starting from the XIth to the undergraduates in the 1st year of a recognized college, with any of the Basic Sciences as their major subject. The qualifying students face an interview before the final list is declared. The shortlisted students receive generous fellowships.

2- NSTSE or National Level Science Talent Search Examination
One of the most popular exams among school students in India, this one is unlike any other entrance exam in the country. Conducted by Unified Council every year for students from the 1st grade to the XIIth standard, this one focuses on helping students discover their strengths and weaknesses. The questions are mostly related to science and mathematics with just a dash of other subjects added for flavour.
3- NEET
NEET is one of the most competitive entrance exams conducted in India for admission in private and public medical and dental colleges. This entrance exam is organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions to MBBS or BDS Courses in India. Candidates start preparing for the exam after 10th to get admission in a college approved by the Medical Council of India or the Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The Medical Council of India (MCI) prescribes the syllabus for NEET exam every year that contains questions from Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. Students can opt for online NEET coaching to start preparation of the exam along with their regular school classes.
4- JEE Main & Advanced
JEE is an engineering entrance exam organized for the admission to various engineering colleges in India. The exam is conducted in two parts: JEE Main (2 Sessions in January and April) and JEE Advanced. The second phase of the exam, which is JEE Advanced is regarded internationally as one of the most challenging undergraduate admission tests. The first stage is JEE-Main and those who qualify can appear for the JEE-Advanced examination. Students who want to make their career as an engineer can start preparation of JEE after class 10th.
