With the limited time left for JEE Main 2019 April season, your JEE preparations must be giving you sleepless nights and a sense of panic. The JEE 2019 exams are going to be conducted online and that has certainly added an increased sense of hysteria among the aspirants.
Even with all the help that digital learning platforms might provide, having a few extra tricks up your sleeve can’t hurt. We strongly recommend going through every nook and cranny of your syllabus at least once. But just going through the syllabus is of no use until you can remember what you learnt. Some quick memory hacks can really boost your preparation and can help you perform well in the final exam.
To help you make the best of your revision for JEE Main 2019, we present to you a few easy hacks to help retain all that you learn –
Loud does it
No, we are not encouraging you to pump up the volume and go crazy with your favourite music tracks but rather memorizing out loud. Studies say that memory retention capability can be enhanced up to 50% if you study things by saying them out loud.
Treat yourself
Nope, we are most certainly not asking you to binge shop to make yourself feel better. Rather than retail therapy, we suggest you practise the art of positive motivation. Treat yourself every time you get an answer right, especially if you have been having a tough time remembering it. Every time you perform well in online JEE mock tests, treat yourself with something like a short break, outing with friends, your favourite dish or anything you like.
If can’t do, you SHOULD teach
If you want to retain something for a really long time, try teaching it to someone else. Now, we realize your friends might not be interested in a mock class for JEE 2019 preparation, but you don’t really need a live audience for this drill. Even a group of stuffed animals or action figures will do the trick. Just assemble your forces and get going.
The 10% rule
While making notes, try to keep it at a length of 10% of the original study material. This will help you by making you skim through the unnecessary and really focusing on the important points. Also, this will make you more aware of what you’re reading and keep you more focused. This in return will enhance your retention capacity and make you more efficient.
Channel your inner Picasso
We get it, not all of us are artistically blessed. However, we all can understand the things we write and the things we draw, no matter how ugly it might look to the rest of the world. So, next time you’re trying to mug up a difficult topic, sit down with your pen and a notepad and try making diagrams, sets, or any form of visual presentation for the same. This exercise has been proved to improve memory and also makes studying more fun!
Try these memory hacks to hone your retention capabilities and come out with flying colours!
