“He’s an engineer” – The image that crops in your mind when you hear this about a person is usually that of a typical millennial dressed casually with a backpack slinging by his shoulders. The common names that come to the mind when talking about engineers are popular engineers like Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai and E Sreedharan, to name a few.

However, just as not all heroes wear capes, similarly, not all engineers fit the society’s mold for them. Many engineering graduates move on to more creative and glamorous career options and carve a niche for themselves. Often, you end up idolizing them for their brilliant acting, sports or musical skills without ever finding out about their technical background. When asked about their educational background, almost every single one of them consider themselves grateful for their college life. Often, they reflect back on how life as an engineering student taught them valuable life lessons that continue to guide them throughout their lives.

Fun, inspiring, these celebrities are changing the game, one step at a time :

Kriti Sanon

The bubbly, cute, and tall (oh-soo-tall) contemporary actress is known for her life-like portrayal of the girl-next-door in her highly acclaimed Bollywood movies. What makes her even more interesting that she is equally adept at figuring out the complexities of electrical circuits, having completed her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Communication Engineering from Jaypee Institute of Engineering, Noida.

R Madhvan

This one is for all you lovely girl aspirants out there! R Madhvan is indeed the whole package. From stealing millions of hearts with his stellar performances in movies like ‘Rehna hai tere dil mein’ to completing his Bachelor’s in Electronics Engineering, Maddy clearly has a lot of feathers adorning his cap.

Anil Kumble

Fondly known as Jumbo, this ace spin bowler of India also happens to hold a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has given the Indian cricket a number of glorious innings and years.  His 619 TEST and 337 ODI wickets remain unbeatable by any other Indian player till date. His dedication to the game and his discipline is legendary. We are sure at least some of it can be traced back to the values he learned during his engineering days.

Kartik Aryan

One of the most celebrated budding newcomers these days, this heartthrob holds an engineering degree in Biotechnology. He moved to Navi Mumbai for his degree and acting soon followed suit.

Taapsee Pannu

Talk about a “beauty with a brain”. Taapsee is known for her off-beat and non-commercial roles. Her acting skills are the talk of the tinsel town. However, behind all the glitz and glamour is a software engineer with an equally impressive technical skillset.

Amol Parashar

This popular TV and Web series actor is an IIT, Delhi alumni and holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His most popular gig includes playing Chitvan in the extremely popular TVF web series “Tripling”.

All these celebrities are just a few shining examples of engineers who have made it big in different fields. They also stand testament to the fact that no matter what your passion in life might be, education is one aspect of life that needs to be taken care of, with diligence.
