“One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters.”

– George Herbert

A father is an unsung hero of every kid’s life. He is an irreplaceable pillar that supports a child’s psychological development, helping them shape a brighter and secure future. In fact, the valuable life experiences shared by fathers influence their child to become a better person each day.

Many researches have revealed that affection and support from the fathers largely influence a child’s cognitive and social development. Their counselling helps children to grow while providing them with a feeling of physical and emotional security.

A Father: the Greatest source of inspiration

Kids often take inspiration from the lives of celebrities. They try to follow celeb footsteps in order to replicate their achieved success in life. Interestingly, many of these famous celebrities including Bill Gates, Jim Carey, George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Hugh Jackman, among many others, give full credit of their success to their respective fathers.

In fact, Hugh Jackman once shared his success story with the press and referred to his father as his “rock” while signing his praises. He considers his father as his best friend and claims him to be the fiercest supporter in his life. Hugh’s father taught him the value of education and always motivated him to excel at all the things he was passionate about. The actor believes that it is only his father’s guidance and advice that have helped him to climb the stairs of success.

“Education. He preached education. And passion, like find whatever you’re good at then do everything you can to learn every bit of it, and don’t go out into the world until you’ve studied.”

-Hugh Jackman on his father

Role of fathers in our education

A child’s education starts at home – we have heard this innumerable times, and a father is the first person to teach important life lessons to the child. Fathers are the first teachers and play a vital role in shaping up the character of their children. It is our supreme luck that our fathers are always there to support us in tough times. Since we all get inspired by our parents, fathers emerge as the perfect role models in our lives. They become the true inspiration source in all phases of our lives.

Here are some reasons why fathers are the best teachers in the world:

  • They know our strengths and weaknesses better than anyone else. Hence, they always encourage us to use our strengths and overcome our weaknesses.
  • They are our first source of inspiration. They always support us and guide us in the right direction in all the decisions we make in life.
  • They oversee our activities and their timely advice help us to stay on the right path.
  • Fathers teach us the importance of discipline in life. They provide us with constructive criticism (that we may not like initially) for the betterment of our lives.

As students, we always face hard times during our examinations. The fear of failure engulfs our confidence to fill our heart and mind with tension, stress, jeopardy while hampering our motivation levels. However, since our role models were once students themselves, they understand various dilemmas and difficulties of a student’s life. Hence, they’re fully aware of our mindset when we’re preparing for various important examinations like boards, JEE and NEET.

How fathers motivate us in our exam preparations?

Fathers are the best guides and motivators in the lives of children. Their shared experiences are the most valuable gifts to students. While they may not be able to help us with our course, they always motivate us to work hard and excel in all tough examinations such as the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).

NEET is one of the foremost medical entrance exams in the country. With about 68 thousand seats for MBBS and 27 thousand seats for BDS in the top medical and dental colleges across India, the highly competitive exam often puts a lot of pressure on students. The fear of failing the examination often leaves students demotivated and prevents them from giving their 100%. This is where the role of a father becomes all the more important in a student’s life.

Apart from our hard work and determination, it is the consistent motivation provided by our respective fathers that helps us achieve great results in our educational journey. Also, in cases of undesirable results, it is only our fathers who encourage us to try again and come back stronger next time.

A father’s role is of utmost importance in a child’s educational journey. Here are some tips fathers can give to their kids to help them better prepare for NEET 2020:

  • Failure is a part of life. It is not something to be afraid of as it only makes you stronger. Look at problems with a different perspective and it will guide you towards the light.
  • Celebrate your accomplishments and stay strong during failures. Stay encouraged and keep trying until you achieve your goals.
  • Live a disciplined life. This discipline will further help you in the effective management of time during your studies.
  • Always keep faith in your capabilities and believe in yourself. Self-confidence is the core foundation of all great success stories.
  • Pressure and stress are manageable if you stay focused on your life goals. They are nothing but temporary distractions that hamper your will power.
  • Don’t compete with the world but only with yourself. You are your only competition. Try and become a better person each day.
  • Set an achievable aim and work hard to achieve it. Don’t let small problems or failures demotivate you.

Recently, the NEET 2019 results were declared and the top performers paid great emphasis on the contributions of their fathers in their success stories.

No father in this world ever loses faith in his child. Thus, it is the duty of the students to acknowledge the hard work and sacrifices put in by their fathers. It is important that, as a student, you never take things for granted and remain fully dedicated to your goal of acing the NEET 2020 examination.

Our Fathers, Our Superheroes

Fathers are the foremost superhero figures who do every possible thing in their power to give a better life to their children. They selflessly support us in our life decisions, hold on to us, and cheer us up when we face stumbling blocks on our journey towards success. Besides, they are the inspirational figures who play a key role in our educational success.

The relationship between a father and a child is one of the most beautiful things in the world. We often look up to our fathers for inspiration, and it is their guidance that helps us to stay motivated in life. They are the most capable caretakers and disciplinarians in our life who encourage us to live life with self-esteem, confidence and dignity. It is their support and enlightenment that helps us to succeed in life.

So take inspiration from your father’s life and appreciate all the hard work he has put in making your life better. Celebrate this father’s day with your greatest mentor and thank him for his contributions in your life.
