JEE Main 2021 is just a few months away. This is a crucial phase in the complete JEE preparation as candidates have to prepare for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced simultaneously. With the limited time left in hand, the level of stress increases with each passing day. Feeling unprepared even after revising the syllabus multiple times is a common problem, almost every JEE Main aspirant goes through. Are you also going through the same problem and wondering why is it happening?

Exam stress is one of the major reasons behind this. With the increasing competition for JEE Main 2021, exam stress has become an unavoidable part of students’ life. But letting this stress hamper the preparation and ranks in JEE Main is not good. Rather, you should use this exam stress as a driving factor to ace the exam, which is possible when you also focus on your physical and psychological preparation. Here are a few tips to combat JEE Main stress and perform well in the exam.

1. Focus on your goal

Always remember the objective behind applying for JEE Main 2021 and keep chasing the goal. Every time you feel that the exam stress is hampering your preparation or health, recall your goal. Reminding yourself of the dream of becoming an engineer will stimulate you to study harder.

2. Choose the right learning medium

Thankfully, with the options of offline and online JEE preparation, you have got more choices. You can learn by attending live online classes, by watching recorded video lectures, by reading books, by accessing e-Books or by having a right balance of all the options based on your priorities.

3. Include relaxation time in your schedule

Strategic planning is important to ensure that the exam stress doesn’t hamper your preparation. One of the best ways for this is to include relaxation time in your study time. Make sure you take a break for at least 10–15 minutes after studying for 1 hour.

4. Cover School and JEE Main Syllabus Simultaneously

Nearly 60% of JEE Main and Advance syllabus is from class 12th and covering just that syllabus can help you get a rank under 2000. Further, JEE and board exam schedule are almost similar, leaving students with very less time for separate preparation of both. So, the right technique is to cover the syllabus of both simultaneously. You can take help of recorded video lectures to quickly and effectively revise the syllabus as it is easier to study by watching videos than reading the books multiple times.

5. Take stress as a driving factor

Instead of fighting with the stress to get rid of it, look at it from a different perspective and use it for your benefit. Like healthy competition, healthy stress with a positive perspective also helps you perform better. Use the stress to study harder and to improve your productivity.

6. Set priorities

We have priorities for almost everything in life such as food, clothes, movies etc. So why not in studies? You need to study different subjects and chapters to cover JEE Main 2021 syllabus. Going through any subject randomly might make the preparation boring that reduces the interest. To keep your interest intact in all the subjects and to pay due attention to every topic, set your priorities to study different chapters.

Also, set your priorities for learning and other activities. No doubt when preparing for JEE 2020, exam preparation is the only important thing, but that doesn’t mean you should cut-off yourself from other things. If there is some important activity or an outing with friends, you can give yourself a break and attend the same.

7. Don’t listen to unwanted suggestions and advice

You have to take the exam and only you know where you stand. The unwanted advice and suggestions from the neighbors and other people who don’t have any idea about the exam only increase your stress level. Instead of wasting your time there, talk to your friends or play your favorite games.

8. Practice enough online tests

As JEE Main 2021 will be conducted only in a computer-based format, students who were not prepared for this change now should get acquainted with the format by practising as many online tests as possible, Online JEE 2021 practice tests will not just help you understand the exam pattern but also in developing strategies to attempt maximum questions with the highest accuracy.

9. Pay attention to your health

You can perform well in the exam only when you are healthy and your mind is relaxed. This is possible when you pay due attention to your health by eating healthy food and taking proper sleep every day. Include Omega 3 rich foods in your diet such as seeds, walnuts, almonds etc. Meditation is also a great way to keep your mind relaxed.

Enough sleep not just makes your body energetic but also improves your memory and helps you remember what you studied last night. To make your brain ready to absorb new information next day, you should take at least 8 hours of sleep.

10. Discuss your concerns

Sometimes discussing your concerns with the family and friends can help you get a quick solution, which otherwise can create unnecessary stress. A motivating discussion with the family and friends can help you feel relaxed and happy.

See, exam stress is an unavoidable thing when JEE Main is just around the corner. The only thing that makes a difference is how you handle this stress. Don’t let it hamper your preparation and performance; rather, use it to push you closer to your goals.
