As NEET 2021 approaches near, you might find yourself pacing around and filled with nervous energy. It is, after all, the single most important test you’ll take in your entire life to realize your dream of becoming a doctor!

So, here is my two cents for you – calm down.

Being nervous and worrying about what’s to come is normal but if you let it, this very energy can hamper your entire NEET 2021 preparation. Remember that, you have been working really hard for your upcoming exams – nothing and no one can take that away from you.

Losing sleep or messing up your meals is not going to help you score better in any competitive exam. Keeping in mind all that you must be going through, we present to you some simple things that you can do to easily de-stress yourself before you appear for the ultimate test of your life.

Meditate

We know you have heard it all before, but trust us, nothing can be achieved without a focused and calm mind. Regardless of how many things you mug up and how many online NEET mock tests you solve – unless your mind is at peace, your retention power will suffer. The best way to reign in your mind is to practise mindful meditation every day for just 15-20 minutes.

These days, you can even download mobile apps that help you meditate. These apps come with pre-set timers and appropriate music that allows you to reach that calm state. Do this every morning before you take on the responsibilities of the day and watch how your mind amazes you!

Take a break or two

Studying non-stop for hours may feel like the only way to complete the humongous syllabus but it is not the most effective way to do so. You need to make a routine that allows your brain to relax for a while every couple of hours. This is important not only to allow you time to decompress but also for your brain to re-boot itself. The constant inflow of information will make your brain reach a saturation point, beyond which nothing you try to learn will get effectively retained.

And so, to improve your efficiency and truly retain all that you are working so hard to learn, you need to take short breaks. It would be advisable to avoid watching tv or any form of social media during them, though. Instead, tune into your favourite playlist or simply take a walk outside. These things will refresh your mood without distracting you too much.

Work out to relax

Doing something physical like walking or even light exercising will improve your blood circulation and further enhance your mental abilities. It will also give you a break from the normal routine and help your brain grab more information when starting a new topic.

Eat healthy food

We all have heard the saying, ‘healthy mind stays in a healthy body’. Remember this and focus on your health. You need to stay fit and energetic to perform well in the exam and this is possible only when you pay due attention to your diet.

Thus, when it’s all said and done, the most effective way to prepare yourself for NEET 2021 is to stay positive and focus on taking one step at a time. With a calm and focused mind, there is truly nothing that can stand in your way of acing the upcoming medical exam and becoming a doctor!
