Mock tests are an integral part of any exam preparation process be it school exams, boards or competitive entrance exams like NEET, JEE etc. They simulate the real-time test environment, allowing students to get a taste of how it would actually feel like on the day of the exam. This helps them prepare a whole lot better, removes fears and doubts that they have in their minds, and makes them a whole lot more confident for the D-day.

Regularly testing exam preparation by solving offline and online test series has proven to be beneficial to all students. The advantages range over a large spectrum and are not limited to the real-time exam environment simulation factor. So, what are the other plus points of testing yourself regularly? Let us have a look at some of the major reasons why you should regularly solve mock tests when preparing for NEET, JEE and other class 8-12 exams.

Time management

Taking practice tests regularly provides students with an enormous amount of time management practice. A good habit is to try and solve a mock exam in around 20-30 minutes less than what you actually get for the real exam. This helps you devise efficient solving strategies while enabling you to review difficult questions later when you have the time. The more mock tests you take, the more confident you will be in being able to attempt more questions with better accuracy and effective time management.

Testing helps you revise

Now, as is the case with any exam, the syllabus is quite vast and involves students preparing for it in stages. Without regular testing, the students tend to forget what they have learned a while back. For instance, online mock tests help you revise and summarise what you have been studying for the past three months, whereas lack of the same practice would lead to you forgetting a whole bunch of important stuff. Helping you revise the entire syllabus of the exam in the setting of the exam itself is what mocks help you do.

Mock tests help you analyse yourself

The most important part of taking a mock or a practice exam is the analysis that follows. Your performance helps you figure out your strengths and weaknesses, and gives you an idea of how to improve your performance as you go. It may also help you to come up with alternate problem-solving techniques, which can prove very handy while solving the real exam. So, every time you appear for a mock test, spend a considerable amount of time analysing your performance, taking notes of your mistakes, and making improvements for next time.

Testing helps you perfect your strategy

Regular testing assists you in perfecting your paper-solving strategy. It is obvious that once you appear for so many mock exams, you will have the pattern of the exam and some important questions on your fingertips. This can help you on the day of the exam, as you would be able to save time on some sections and dedicate this time to other, more difficult questions.

Preparing for exams should always involve regular testing. Mock tests are a great tool to score high in exams; use them wisely!
